a silent game

L'Aquila, December 24, 2008

de kinderen,
ze zijn naar huis
gegaan

het is koud,
zeggen
de moeders

zien ze de zon dan niet?

de beheerder,
hij sloot
de hekken

de schaduwen,
ze spelen
een stil spel

the children,
they've gone
home

It is cold,
the mothers
said

can’t they see the sun?

the warden,
he closed
the gates

the shadows,
they play
a silent game

Svolte della misericordia

Deserted palazzo

L'Aquila, December 25, 2008

There were lots of things to discover at the edge of the town.

The cat sat there for quite some time. Like a crossing guard.

Henri Cartier Bresson made some beautiful photographs in L'Aquila. I saw them years ago and promised myself to go and see this town one day. This is one of these photographs - I couldn't find it on the net, so I took a photo of it. Just to give you an idea.

This is how it looks now.

Keep smiling

Back home, sorting out the photographs I made in L'Aquila, Castel del Monte, Celano and Rome and fighting off a very nasty cold I took with me from Italy.
