Netherlands, Pernis, September 29, 2010
Some days ago I went to Pernis, a small village under the smoke of Rotterdam,
surrounded by ports and petrochemical industry. It has no special attractions, it is not beautiful and yet I wanted to go and visit it. I always associated Pernis with bad smells coming from the petrochemical industry, which made life in nearby Vlaardingen where I grew up, less pleasant and wondered what kind of place it was. So it was time to go and visit Pernis.
This series is a first impression, which shows nothing of the village itself. That must wait for another visit.
