Netherlands, Leiden, my book, July 25, 2023
There it is, my artist book on my Sefardic pre-family, once living in Amsterdam and whose ancestors came from Spain and Portugal.
In my book I show you the universe of a place - in Beth Haim, the Portugese jewish cemetery in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel - where many members of my pre-family are laid to rest - in photographs, drawings, paintings, mixed media and poems. I reconstruct part of their lives in lists and letters to far away grandparents, cousins and nieces.
I worked four years on this project culminating into two exhibitions and my art school graduation in Leuven (Belgium).
My book is for sale - it is in Dutch, but I will translate it in English for those who are interested.
